Many of the regular, and new, Gallery Trail artists are taking part including Andy Waite, Bill Philip, Christian Doyle, Fanny Peppercorn and Oliver Hawkins. As with the Trail itself the works include paintings, ceramics, photography, jewellery and even works made from found drift wood!

Potential buyers will be able view works to be auctioned on this on the Gallery Trail website (http://www.arundelgallerytrail.co.uk), and should anyone not be able to make it to the auction, we will accept bids via email (these will be posted online as they come in).

On the day doors will open at 1.30pm for viewing the works, drinks and light refreshments will be provided. The auction will then start at 2.30pm, and we expect it to be over by 4pm.

Any unsold pieces will then be included in a ‘silent auction’ at the Arundel Festival Fundraising dinner on Thursday July 17.

Ash Kent, Festival Director said: “This auction is a great way to showcase the broad range of creative talent there is in the Gallery Trail, as well as raising money for both the Festival and ‘Art for Life’ [in El Salvador.”

Mark Ford, organiser of the Gallery Trail said: “We hope that as many people as possible will come to see the great artworks on display for the auction, and also support us and the two causes by buying them!”

Susie Jenkins and the Art For Life Appeal:

Susie Jenkins was a regular on the Gallery Trail almost since the start showing her amazing abstract photographs, which were so well composed that no photoshopping was needed. She organised the Trail for several years in the late ‘90s and early ‘00s and introduced the Gallery Trail to the El Salvador ‘Art for Life’ Appeal, which raised money initially for a school, then a whole village!

Susie was the co-founder of the Art for Life project with her daughter-in-law Beatriz Huezo.

This small charity started in 2001 after El Salvador was struck by two devastating earthquakes, Art for Life’s first success was to build twenty-five new basic homes in one of the worst hit areas, without the project this small village would have received no aid.

The gallery Trail:

So far our combined efforts have assisted in securing land for and the building of a new school, provide clean water, and secure land for and the building of a new clinic. This has been a combined effort from the community itself and the wonderful enthusiasm & generosity of the Arundel people.
