Helping those with learning difficulties

Network West Sussex, with its eye catching logo, is now providing two important services across the County:-

My Network: drop in sessions are available for people aged 16 and over with learning disabilities in Horsham, Bognor Regis, Burgess Hill, Chichester, Crawley, Haywards Heath, Littlehampton and Worthing.

A warm welcome is assured for people to come along, meet people, get information and advice, find out what’s available in their area and get involved in a range of activities ranging from cooking, community safety and social events. Experienced staff can provide information to people and their carers on housing, leisure, learning, keeping safe and making friends.

My Network Plus: is a referral only service through West Sussex County Council’s Community Learning Disability Teams. People with learning disabilities are eligible if they have a tenancy and have been assessed by West Sussex Community Learning Disability Teams as not being eligible for social care services.

The Aldingbourne Trust are leading the consortium, which includes Circles Network, Hillcrest Care, Outreach 3 Way, Signposts (Mid Sussex) and Worthing Mencap. Sue Livett, Managing Director of The Aldingbourne Trust said “Network West Sussex is a fantastic opportunity for local organisations to work together to provide a joined up service across West Sussex to people with learning disabilities and their carers. We are looking forward to sharing our skills and resources to work with members of My Network and My Network Plus to get involved, work together to develop the service, have access to really useful information, find out what is available locally and try new activities. All of us have a lot of local knowledge, contacts and skills which we are looking forward to sharing”.
