Henfield Lions race night raises school funds

Henfield Lions raised more than £1,000 with a race night at St. Peter’s School on Saturday (April 26) – with half going towards new equipment for the school and the rest to charity.

The school money will go towards a new interactive electronic whiteboard for pupils.

Richard Lucy, chairman of the school PTA, said: “This was a fabulous fund-raising evening with tremendous support from the community. The Lions do a brilliant job.”

Henfield Lions organiser David Pryor said: “We were delighted to support this very worthwhile project for the school. Charities will also benefit and we have to thank everyone who made the event such a great success.”

Around 100 people attended the event, which involves backing horses shown racing on a big screen. There were also raffles, guessing jockey names and racecourse locations.

The race night was supported by many local companies, including Stevens Estate Agents, Richward Estate Agents, Jeremys, Goodsman Lettings, Al-Baddar, AE Adams, Taste Deli, Swains Farm Shop, BN5 Magazine, Pet Rescue, Natasha’s Salon, Radmalls, Henfield Flooring, Bay Tree Trading, The Plough, HJ Burt Estate Agents, Lloyds Chemists, Stokes Newsagents, Henfield Eye Care, Hamfelds, White Mischief, Hawthorn Vets, Truffles, Henfield Furnishings, Henfield Garden Machinery Services, David Bremner Foot Clinic, Pinks Salon, Barbara Ritchie Curtains, Cornerweighs, Village Care, The Bell Inn, M&N Coachworks and Kaylee’s Cakery.
