Historical characters come alive in Arundel

Visitors can see historical interpreter Paul Ullson in a range of guises and will be able to talk to him about what life was like in years gone by. Visitors young and old will be mesmerized by some of history’s lesser known personalities from as far back from the 12th Century.

To further enthral Castle visitors, this year five new characters have been added to Paul’s already impressive repertoire. These include a Norman Knight portrayed during the signing of the Magna Carta, a Castle Guard protecting the Castle during the 12th & 13th centuries and a Medieval Monk who was the Chaplain to the Earl of Arundel in the 12th Century.

Paul will be sporting expertly crafted costumes, playing close attention to the historical authenticity of his full replica wardrobe. ‘It’s The History Man’ only uses instruments and techniques true to their time. As well as the highly anticipated new characters for the 2015 open season, the Castle will welcome back popular faces such as The Executioner, Medieval Surgeon and The Crusader. The displays of history ensure a thrilling yet informative addition to a day out at Arundel Castle.

All the Castle staff can’t wait to see what Paul has up his sleeve this year.”
