Just 1 in 11 Brits manages to stick to their new year’s resolutions. The other 10 fail to keep up good intentions beyond 3 months according to a recent poll.

But if getting fit, making friends, saving money and feeling happier are this year’s goals, the Out and About Club could provide a long-term answer.

Award winning Billingshurst based company Pied A Terre Adventures have launched a new and unique outdoor fitness scheme set in the beautiful West Sussex countryside, offering inspiring activities tailored to all ages and abilities. Sociable guided walks, photography workshops and adventurous days out are planned at different locations across the South Downs region, meaning that gym fatigue that usually sets in around February can be avoided.

2012 Paralympic athlete, Sophia Warner is a supporter of the initiative, which kicked off with its first two and a half hour session on Saturday 17th January on the South Downs Way in Washington.

She commented: “As a firm believer in the benefits of fitness and a big fan of the West Sussex countryside, I think the Out & About Club will prove very popular. No two sessions will ever be the same, keeping things fun and interesting.”

Even famous business mogul, Theo Paphitis is impressed with the new initiative. He said: “Wishing Kirstie and Richard every success with the Out & About Club, it’s a great initiative and something that could really take off. Getting fit while taking in the countryside sounds like a winning combination.”

Getting Out & About adds a feel good factor to fitness. Healthier lungs, stronger immunity and better sleep are just some of the physical benefits of spending time in the great outdoors, and according to Good Relaxation, exercise in the fresh air raises the brain’s serotonin levels which make us feel happy.

Stimulating guided walks, outdoor fitness sessions and photography workshops are just some of the benefits offered in the £25 per month package. Single, couple and family discounts are also available, saving money on expensive gym memberships.

Kirstie Betts, Company Director at Pied A Terre, says: “The Out and About Club offers something for everyone. We want to provide a fun and interesting fitness scheme that becomes a way of life and keeps people coming back for more. Miles of breath-taking South Downs scenery alongside the picturesque coastal backdrop makes this unique part of the world an outdoor gym like no other.”

Most Out & About Club activities are set in Sussex and for the more adventurous among us, weekend mountain trips are planned at destinations including the Lake District and Wales. Members are encouraged to come dressed appropriately with plenty of warm and waterproof layers and sturdy footwear.
