Last call for young Mid Sussex bands and singers

A number of entries have been received but more would be welcome in all four categories: 1) bands aged 11–16; 2) bands aged 17–21; 3) singers aged 11–16 and 4) singers aged 17 and over.
Auditions to compete in the final will be hosted by Freedom Leisure on Friday 28th February and Saturday 1st March at its Martlets Hall venue in Burgess Hill. Bands and soloists will perform one number each at this stage and finalists will be announced on Sunday 2nd March. The final will be held at 7.30pm on Friday 14th March at Martlets Hall where the winners will be voted for by a judging panel and the audience (each has 50% of the votes). Four finalists in each category will be invited to perform.

The prize winners in each category will have the chance to record an eight-track studio album and be invited to perform at three local live gigs including a showcase at The Haunt in Brighton and supporting Motown Band, No Town Like Motown, in Burgess Hill.
Co promoter of The One, Robert Eggleston said,
“Applications are running at a higher level than this time last year with interest in the competition from across Mid Sussex but we could do with more singers coming forward. The winners will have the chance to perform live locally and record an eight-track album to help promote their talent: this really is an opportunity not to be missed.”
