Laws are affront to civilised society

What a disgrace it is to have, on our doorstep, the Irish government who insists that women who are raped are forced, by law, to have the illegal, illegitimate birth; no abortion allowed.

Also those that have a severe foetal anomaly are not allowed to abort as well as those that might have severe health problems at the baby’s birth.

How is it that, a 21st century government, with access to all the latest medical information, can be blind to civilised humanitarian expectations?

Irish law could put pregnant women in jail for up to 14 years even if the foetus failed to survive!

Yes, abortion is still illegal in this Roman Catholic, dominated Irish society.

I am not Irish, nor religious, nor want to interfere with the Irish laws, presumably democratically passed.

However, these laws are an affront to modern civilised society; indeed they are laws that enhance death and lifelong, deliberating health problems.

It is long past time to repeal these draconian laws that are completely out of acceptance in the modern world.
