Let’s drive out this problem

As resident living in the centre of Arundel, I have taken a keen interest in the forthcoming review of parking in Arundel.

I read the letter (Gazette, October 18) by Jeremy Lines, who feels everything is wrong with the current parking situation in Arundel, but singularly fails to set out his proposals for dealing with the awful problem of parking!

I feel his and others’ confused feelings, are based upon ignorance of how well the proposal, from West Sussex Council, will greatly free up parking for residents, visitors and businesses alike.

I am fed up with non-residents and all and sundry, taking up limited available parking spaces, instead of using the council car parks.

I spend my life, as do many other residents, driving around and around to find somewhere to park my car when my street is stuffed full of builders, tourists, commuters, and visitors.

All other towns and cities have similar parking arrangements to those proposed by the council, which work very well for the residents, businesses and visitors alike, unlike the “free- for- all” currently.

Why are a minority of vociferous Arundel residents making so much noise, but offering no sensible argument for their opposition to the proposal? Could it be that those who are making the most noise do not actually own a motor vehicle or live in the heart of the town?

Methinks that Mr Lines (and others) doth protest too much!

I note that Canada Road, where Mr Lines resides, is out of the centre of Arundel and, therefore, he is unaffected either way!

I commend this excellent parking proposal to the town of Arundel, its residents and businesses alike! I long for its inception.
