Last year, the Cheltenham Festival saw the deaths of seven horses, and at last year’s three-day Grand National meeting a further six horses lost their lives.
The vast majority of these deaths receive no mention in the media. Horse racing is the ruthless exploitation of yet another animal for human gain. Horses are pushed to their limits and are killed both in training and on the race course. Burst blood vessels and broken legs.
Each year, due to overbreeding, approximately 1,000 unwanted race horses, that don’t make the grade, go to slaughter.
Please join me and other animal lovers across the country by not watching, not betting and staying away.
