LETTER: Good reason for second runway

What a wonderful job captain David Williams did to land a crippled aircraft saving that aircraft and the lives of almost 500 people.

Although pilots are trained to cover every scenario of a flight his and his crew’s hearts must have been in utter turmoil so well done to him.

But I wonder how many local people that oppose a second runway at Gatwick had their travel plans disrupted.

Had Gatwick had a second runway there would probably not have been any disruption to other passengers so surely a good reason why a major airport should have more than one runway.
