LETTER: Information can be found online

Further to Dr Geoffrey Richardson’s letter in the WSCT on 10 September in which he claims that the council is withholding a list of the 7,000 dwellings that have been given planning permission in the district, this information is available for the public to view at http://www.horsham.gov.uk/__data/assets/pdf_file/0004/23197/HDC-37a-Horsham-District-Council-Provisional-Trajectory-June-2015.pdf.

The Public Access system, again available on our website at http://www.horsham.gov.uk/planning/view-and-comment-on-planning-application provides information on the developers.

This information has been available for the public to view since June 5, 2015. There is no truth in the assertion that information has been withheld.

I am sorry that Dr Richardson is unhappy that he has to access the information via these links.

However, in the interests of efficiency and economy it is our practice, along with other councils, to point people in the direction of the information when it is already easily accessible in the public domain.

Furthermore this is entirely consistent with the provisions of the Freedom of Information Act and related legislation.

Tom Crowley

Chief executive, Horham District Council, Parkside, Chart Way, Horsham
