LETTER: Memories of National School

I wonder whether it would be possible to appeal for some help through your pages? Cranleigh Arts Centre is looking for former pupils and staff of the old National School in the High Street (Cranleigh Junior School) – now Cranleigh Arts Centre - to share their memories about the school and school life before it closed in 1966.

‘The Best Days of Our Lives’ project will record some of the memories of people connected with the school in the form of an oral history archive which will be used to create a commemorative artwork to be hung in the arts centre.

If any of your readers would like to know more about the project or be part of it by offering a memory about their time at the school more information can be obtained from me, Gillian Collins, the project co-ordinator by email on [email protected] or by telephoning the arts centre on 01483 278000 and leaving a message and I will call you back.

I will be manning a stand at the Arts Centre Open Day on Saturday 25th April 2015 between 10am and 4pm and I would be delighted to talk to anyone interested in the project then.

Thank you for help with this.

GILLIAN COLLINS
