LETTER: Pink flowers for Race for Life

I write on behalf of Dorking Friends of Cancer Research UK. I believe your photographer took a photograph of my mother Sandra Clark and another volunteer Sara Knowles selling pink flowers at Horsham Park on Sunday 7th June.

As well as the flower gazebo there were six of us walking round the park and may I say how generous everyone in Horsham was. On a glorious day, on behalf of Cancer Research UK we sold 650 flowers. The suggested donation was £1 but we received a total of £1,203!

It was the first time Dorking Friends of Cancer Research UK had been asked to help on the day and it was huge fun and really rewarding. Everyone was so friendly and obviously enjoying themselves.

So many people came up to us wanting a flower that we ran out and the last one was auctioned by Nicola the announcer from Heart Radio for £5. After walking round in the sun encouraging people to buy a flower, we went home tired and really happy at how much we had raised to help beat cancer. Roll on next year.
