LETTER: Rotting corpse that is the EU

Why does L.N. Price describe Roger Arthur as a ‘turncoat’ (leters, August 8)? It should be apparent to everybody that the party headed by Mr Cameron has ceased to have any claim to the name ‘Conservative’.

The only party that today espouses true conservative values is UKIP. Like myself, Roger Arthur has not ‘defected’ from his party, our former party has simply deserted us.

The only proper job Mr Cameron has ever had is as a PR man, and as such he is ideally suited to the job of PM, which nowadays consists of selling unpopular policies from Brussels to an increasingly bewildered British public.

Policies such as homosexual marriage, HS2, windmills, foreign aid, all have their roots in Brussels. ‘Conservative’ they most certainly are not. And don’t get me started on immigration.

Contrary to Mr Price’s assertion, UKIP is not a party of ‘Little Englanders’. We want to unshackle ourselves from the rotting corpse that is the European Union, with whom our trade is collapsing by the year, and do business with the whole wide world, with whom our trade is growing at the same rate.

Unfortunately we are not allowed to sign any free trade agreements with these emerging markets, because Brussels won’t let us.

It’s time to get out.
