Littlehampton ideal place for an icon
I suggested it be sited in the middle of the boating lake, but was informed that the ground was not suitable. An alternative could be close to the coach park and the esplanade.
The north of England has its statue of a figure with open arms, Kent is going ahead with a white horse. Copenhagen has its famous mermaid, only 5ft tall in the harbour, in very ordinary surroundings.

Hide AdThe Sussex Mermaid at Littlehampton, with a few seahorses at her base, and perhaps a fountain or two, would bring fame and business to the town.
I have heard nothing further from the council, except to ask if I was prepared to pay the cost involved.
I suggest a competition with funds raised by a raffle, with business support.
Littlehampton should not miss this opportunity.
We are the only Sussex seaside town that has ample space, easy parking and several cafs, ideal for such a project.
