Littlehampton Labour carrying on

I WAS surprised to see the letter (Gazette, last week) attacking the local Labour party for campaigning in Littlehampton town centre against cuts to police and other vital services.

As the person who organised the two street stalls in question, I ought to reply.

I am proud to say we were there and will be there again next week and will go elsewhere in the area, too. We were also there last November after a series of similar events dating back to the summer.

I believe issues such as cutting hundreds of police officers in Sussex will badly affect people in Littlehampton.

Local Labour members will continue to speak with other local people on issues like this so we, as local people ourselves, can represent their views.

We will not “ram politics down people’s throats” but we will ensure people have access to information and representatives who care about the issues they care about, like cutting hundreds of police officers in Sussex.

We have had a very positive response on the street and on the doorstep. Perhaps not everybody is happy with the cuts after all.
