Loading bay not just for George

I am uncertain how Mr Saunders formed the impression that the proposed introduction of a loading bay in the High Street will be for the use of The George only (Your Views 11 October). I can assure your readers that, in order to address traffic management issues in the vicinity of Lion Street and the High Street, the bay will be for the use of those making deliveries to any business.

The bay will be funded by East Sussex County Council and Rye Town Council, following consultation with a range of stakeholder organisations.

Assuming Town Councillors approve the revised scheme on 28 October, there will then be a period of formal public consultation on the proposed Traffic Regulation Order.
