Memorial made special by many

WE would like to thank Rustington Parish Council most sincerely for its grant of £250 towards the expenses for the new memorial unveiled last week at Chaucer Avenue, Rustington, and also for the finger buffet laid on for the guests after the ceremony.

We would also extend our grateful thanks to Ferring Nurseries.

Unable to do much work on the road triangle where the memorial has been placed, due to the state of the ground after the recent appalling weather conditions, Ferring Nurseries, on their own initiative, placed potted shrubs to the rear of the memorial, and then surrounded the base with potted red, white, and blue pansies.

It looked really lovely for the close relatives of the pilot and navigator's families, who had travelled from all over the country to

attend the ceremony of dedication and the unveiling.

I hasten to add there was no charge for their wonderful, thoughtful action on this occasion.
