MP meets Artisan bakers in Ashurst

The Artisan Bakehouse, set in five acres of secluded gardens and woodland, is run by Les and Louise Nicholson, who gave up their hectic City lives to pursue their passion for baking. After a period in France, where they learnt their baking skills, Les and Louise moved to Ashurst to start their business, which includes a Teabarn, holiday cottages and a Bakehouse where they run artisan bread making workshops.
Les and Louise told Mr Herbert about their passion for Sussex, which they describe as “a foodlover’s paradise”. They use as much locally produced food as possible, and will be playing an active role in the second Steyning Food and Drink Festival, which will be run in September.

It is another example of the huge attraction of West Sussex for lovers of food and the countryside, and I look forward to my next visit.”
The Teabarn will next be open to visitors on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays from 3 to 26 June and from 9 September to 2 October. Booking is advisable.
