I fully endorse the views of Mike Willard concerning the proposed plans to make Western Road a pedestrian zone.

A lot of businesses would suffer if this road is closed to traffic. The Co-op, butchers, fishmongers, greengrocer, flower shop, charity shops, to name but a few. It works well and is very fluid with a lot of businesses receiving or making deliveries throughout the day.

Also, it has the most disabled parking bays which serve the community well, when they are not being abused as they are not policed!

The locals are very patient if a driver has to stop in the middle of the road to drop off/pick up someone.

Also, what about traffic flow? At the moment it flows smoothly down Western Road to Devonshire Road and then down Parkhurst Road to Sackville Road.

What is the alternative? Push everyone down Sackville Road so they are encouraged to park in the De La Warr car park?

Lastly but not least, what about the residents of Western Road? What are they supposed to do?

This just reinforces the fact that we need a local council that allows local people have a say in their community.
