No need to judge

I’ve been a Littlehampton resident for 16 years and until today, everyone I’ve met in the town has been polite, other than the occasional judgmental stare for being a teenager (although I’m not sure why – I’ve never even worn a hoodie).

Today, I took a trip to the town centre to run a few errands, taking my godson with me in a pushchair.

The amount of stares, shakes of the head, whisperings and rolling of the eyes I got was astonishing.

In one shop, I was treated appallingly – they obviously wanted me out of their shop as quickly as possible.

They assumed I was a teenage mother, although I don’t think that is an excuse for the sheer rudeness I was met with.

I was made to feel very uncomfortable and left the town rather upset.

I urge readers to think twice before judging teenagers – or anyone, for that matter.

It is NOT okay and it just encourages even more separation from society.
