Perhaps you trust them?

The remain campaign have fielded some big hitters in an attempt to scare us into staying in the EU including a think tank at London School of Economics, the MD of International Monetary Fund, former prime ministers John Major and Tony Blair, and the governor of the Bank of England.

The conclusions of the LSE’s Centre for Economic Performance are so biased that they verge on the ridiculous in that they are based upon very unlikely scenarios, but perhaps this shouldn’t surprise us as it receives funding from the EU.

Christine Lagarde, head of the IMF is French and I suspect that her comments serve the interests of France and the EU as a whole rather than the UK because she knows that the EU project would be jeopardised if we left and others followed.

Lagarde is of course a firm believer in the Euro currency and would like us to join to underwrite her own failing economy.

In December, the French Court of Justice ordered her to stand trial for alleged negligence in her role in an arbitration case so perhaps we shouldn’t put too much faith in what she says.

John Major was of course the chancellor who took us into the ERM, a move that wrecked our economy in the 1990s when he was prime minister.

How many people lost their jobs, homes, and businesses to 15 per cent interest rates because he was hell bent on following his ideology?

Tony Blair was desperate to join the Euro currency. Gordon Brown held him back.

Did the Bank of England speak out against us joining the ERM?

Many sages in the Bank of England still think that we should join the Euro currency. If you vote to remain in Europe to ‘settle the matter once and for all’ as David Cameron has phrased it, do not be surprised if the next prime minister takes us into the Euro currency to help prop up Greece.
