Please spare a thought for us

Please may I, through the Observer, appeal to the planners to turn down the application to build another 67 houses at Barnhorn Green, making a total of 342 properties with no provision for a school.

Let’s assume that there is just one child per property, can someone explain where those children will go to school?

It appears that Little Common school is bursting at the seams at the moment and life is made miserable twice a day for the residents of Birkdale and surrounding roads because of the numbers of parents cars who wait for up to three quarters of hour to collect their children.

It is virtually impossible to access or exit our properties twice a day because of the inconsiderate parking of many parents.

For example, parking across driveways and on the grass verges which at the moment, after all the rain, look more like ploughed fields and because cars are now parked on both sides of Birkdale – which is a through road – it is often gridlocked.

It is impossible for double-decker buses to pass each other and I dread to think how emergency vehicles would go through as it is now, never mind when there could be hundreds more cars trying to get close to the school.

Where are all the extra cars going to park when delivering and collecting even more children at the school?

It is nothing short of lunacy to even consider this application, but if it is agreed, then surely it should only be if there is provision for another school.

Please spare a thought for those of us who live near the school.
