Public's generous spirit sees others muscling in

MEMBERS of the Worthing and District branch of the Guide Dogs for the Blind Association would like to thank everyone who supported us in our street collection on March 20, which raised £173.68.

The Guide Dogs charity provides dogs, mobility and other rehabilitation services that give freedom and independence to blind and partially-sighted people and this work is entirely funded through the generosity of the public. We are extremely grateful for this support.

I would just like to add that on the same day that we were collecting, there were two other people collecting at the same points with "Deaf and Blind" printed on their orange t-shirts. But they were nothing to do with Guide Dogs.

I contacted Sharon Sampson at Arun District Council and verified that ours was the only legitimate street permit granted for that date. I have no idea who these people were, but felt that the public should be told, so that they can be aware in the future.
