The Brighton based company, who blend authentic French “Art du deplacement” with urban and contemporary dance in a unique language they call Performance Parkour, spent the morning working with 15 boys from across the school.

Year 10 pupil Calun Lavington, who has a number of his free-running video’s online, said “I have been free-running for the last 18 months. I got into it because I was bored of being lazy and sitting playing video games all day. The workshop was great. I have mainly taught myself so it was really good to learn how to roll safely and how to use the physics of my body to go higher and further in the moves.” He went on to add “The people from The Urban Playground were amazing, they really wanted us to get as much as we could out of the workshop.”

The boys who took part will get to see how the professionals do it when they go to see the Urban Playground Team in their ‘Run this Town’ production at The Hawth Theatre in Crawley later this week.
