We’ve been told it’s the most important meal of the day but how many of us actually eat an adequate breakfast before school or work?

This week, year 6 children at Billingshurst Primary School are being served a tasty and nutritious breakfast courtesy of Kavanagh’s Budgens, Billingshurst High Street, West Sussex.

The meal is part of a campaign to promote the importance of eating a healthy breakfast, to provide the best possible start to the day.

Kavanagh’s Budgens will be providing 90 children with cereals and toast over the week to ensure the children get a healthy start during SATS week.

Morgan Rees, Store Manager of Kavanagh’s Budgens commented: “It is a well-established medical fact that eating a healthy breakfast can help children’s concentration at school and boost their performance. By encouraging children to eat a nutritious meal at the right time of the day, we are hoping to promote good habits for the future. Recent research has also suggested that, for adults, skipping breakfast may be detrimental to their long-term health.*

Helen Williamson, Head of Billingshurst Primary School commented:

“We are delighted to be collaborating with Kavanagh’s Budgens to encourage our children not to overlook the importance of breakfast. Our children work so hard during the day, a nutritious breakfast will help them to achieve their full potential.”
