Radiographers are on call all year long

IN RESPONSE to JE Goldsworthy’s letter regarding the Conquest Hospital’s stroke care service, it is misleading and false to say that “we must live in hope that any radiographer... will respond” when called out of hours.

Conquest Radiology operate a CT on-call service that runs 24 hours a day, seven days a week - including Christmas Day, New Years Eve and every other public holiday.

The team of radiographers participating in this service are required to be available to be on site swiftly, whatever time of day or night they are called.

To imply that it’s pot luck whether a radiographer will be available to do emergency scans is incorrect and demeans the hard work put in by the imaging team to ensure that Radiology operate as efficient a service as possible with thrombolysis patients.
