Year 4 students at Pennthorpe School, Rudgwick, travelled back in time last week and found themselves at the mercy of a Roman Centurion! The pupils spent the whole day in Roman costume, learning about what life was really like in the Roman Army (Rule Number One: never volunteer!).

The day was organised by the History department and is one of a series of interactive days enjoyed by students at the school. James Oakden, Head of History said, “We believe passionately that children need to be immersed in what they are learning. There should be so much more to education than just sitting in a classroom.”
