Year 5 pupils from Rudgwick had a most successful visit to Rikkyo School, where the children enjoyed a variety of activities such as Kendo, Kendama and Komo, using Hashi, Origami, counting in Japanese, playing Ayatori and writing their names in Japanese.

The following week, Rikkyo pupils were welcomed back to Rudgwick with a cream tea, before taking part in some traditional British activities and games.

The children were also able to enjoy the school’s extensive woodland area whilst they were here, taking part in Forest School activities.

Headteacher of Rudgwick, Miss Bowers commented: “Pupils and staff from both schools were extremely enthusiastic about the experience and we look forward to continuing to build relations between the two schools in the future.”
