Sadness over ‘no’

I WAS sad to hear health bosses have said “No” to the rebuilding of Littlehampton Hospital.

As you say in your story (Gazette, March 22), this is a casualty of the government’s controversial NHS reforms that are going ahead in spite of strong opposition from the BMA and other recognised unions.

This will cost large amounts of money for an uncertain outcome in a long period of recession. It doesn’t add up!

Building a local hospital makes good sense, particularly with a growing elderly population, and more people expected to move here to retire.

There is already a big programme underway for building new houses and roads, and schools are undergoing a big rebuilding to make education a top priority for the future.

This will only increase the need for a community hospital to deal with minor injuries and to reduce the pressure on services at larger hospitals.
