Salt in the wound

YOUR article (Gazette, November 3) about the new £8m outpatients department at Worthing Hospital is really rubbing salt in the wound, for the citizens of Littlehampton.

This block will have consultation rooms, three treatment rooms and two 19-bed wards on the first floor. Do we really have to ask where the money allocated for our hospital has gone?

You 30,000 residents of this town are consigned to a round trip of approximately 16 miles by car, with the cost of a parking ticket or a one-hour bus ride to Worthing every time you need to go for an outpatients visit.

I suggest you write a letter of protest to your MP and also to Dr Philip Barnes at Western Sussex Hospitals NHS Trust.
