School celebrates record breaking achievements at awards ceremony

Tanbridge House School held its annual Y12 Presentation Evening for the class of 2014 last week.

Nearly 400 ex-students and parents and carers came back to school to collect their GCSE certificates with many staying on to the Awards Ceremony which followed the reception.

In total 50 prizes were awarded ranging from all GCSE subjects to our individual and special prizes including Citizenship won by Amelia Pirie for her work in raising a considerable amount of money towards the building of The Stephen Head Library at our partner school, The Masaba Friends School in Kenya, and Matthew Jones who won the Service to the Community Prize for his work with the Ark group, which has involved in him giving up his valuable free time to help them. Both very worthy recipients.

Ken O’Rahilly, a past Governor was also honoured for his work with the school for the past eight years. As the silent force behind the school, his work on the Governing body was much appreciated and he will be missed from our team of Governors.

Music was an integral part of the night when two current Year 11 students, Imogen Cook on guitar and Emily Batchelor on violin performed “Old Pine” written by Ben Howard.

Other notable successes came for Sam Barby, who excelled in a range of subjects, and also participated in a number of extra-curricular activities. Thea Elvin scooped the Leslie Prize for outstanding academic achievement. On top of this her overall contribution in areas such as music and as an eco-rep were also highlighted.

Headteacher, Jules White, wrapped up the evening by thanking the class of 2014 for their record breaking achievements. Their commitment, energy and kindness were also celebrated by an audience of 300 and our sponsor for the evening Rawlison Butler.
