So many questions

HOW right Jim Milne is when he says that ignorance is one reason that some people may not be voting in local elections (Will you vote?) Some may also be put off voting if they feel they are just expected to vote along party lines.

I am sure we have a hard-working council that has done its best in difficult circumstances. Since 1997 there have been improvements in Bexhill, such as those to the railway station, De La Warr Pavilion, museum, library and recreation areas. For these I am grateful.

But so much else seems to have gone wrong. The questions that I have drafted several times and then binned would take up far too much space here. They are questions asking for information, not point scoring, though the council may have found some difficult to answer.

They are about issues like the seafront, the link road, traffic congestion, parking, housing policy, planning approvals, maintenance and the possibility of a county rubbish dump at our unsuitable site.

They are also about our relationship with central and regional government, and how this may have affected some of the decisions that have been made. About all this, I must remain ignorant. At least Mr Milne has decided that a computer is one luxury he can afford. So he may be slightly less ignorant than I am!

Just one thing. A recent television documentary showed gow, during the long period of the Blair administration, all major decisions were made by what was described as a sofa cabinet. Does Rother have the equivalent of a sofa cabinet, and if so, how many of this elite group live in Bexhill?
