Someone sort out the infrastructure

WHILE it is difficult to fight against progress, it’s equally difficult to sit and watch your community fall apart.

Morrisons is moving into the area where, currently, the proposed new housing market will be. As things are at the moment, the supermarkets have progressed from selling groceries and fresh vegetables to catering for the sale of household electrical goods, pharmacy, clothing, passport photos, photographic equipment, insurance, banking, filling stations, magazines, papers and phones.

As I am sure people have noticed, they are now encouraging customers to scan their own goods and make the payment, thus saving a cashier doing it. Are the customers perhaps getting used to that and therefore helping to cut staff? Online ordering is on the up, saving more staff and keeping profits up. Whilst this is great for people with less time to spare for shopping, it’s not doing a lot for the local shopkeepers.

Littlehampton is becoming a sea of cafés, and where vacant premises don’t appear to be raising any concerns. As a seaside town, I’m just wondering what we will have to offer visitors apart from the fun fair. And what is there for the young people in this area?

Someone needs to sort out the infrastructure, in particular the hospital and the entertainment area Littlehampton deserves.
