St Peter’s Primary School pupils visit Knight’s Budgens of Henfield

As part of the school’s curriculum of healthy eating, Knight’s Budgens provided the students with the opportunity to sample various exotic fruits such as dragon fruit, mangosteen and rambutan. The children were also given a bag of various fruits to take home.
Store owner David Knight, who was on hand to explain a little about running a shop and what healthy fruits are available in store, commented: “Healthy eating is a habit that’s formed at a young age so we were pleased to be able to support the school in this project. The children really enjoyed tasting the new and exotic fruits and it was a bit more interesting than apples and oranges!”

Then as cashiers the children were able to scan their items through the tills, exchange money and bag their shopping. “It was great to see the children’s excitement at operating the till as it gave them the chance to experience being a real shopkeeper!” said Rikky Easter, Store Manager.
A wide variety of seasonal fruits and vegetables are available in store and we will always source Sussex grown produce wherever possible.
