Though just 13, Dare has won a performance poetry prize for young people up to the age of 18 organized by The Poetry Society, she is one of just seven SLAMbassadors for 2015. The award, also includes mentoring from some of the country’s top Spoken Word poets.

CH has a fantastic Spoken Word group which is entirely pupil-run. Set up by former pupils Kobby Adi and Leeza Awojobi, the group meets every week and members perform regularly at the Library’s Music and Poetry nights.

Stephen Walsh, Head of English, said: ‘The pupils do all the organizing of Spoken Word themselves. Dare has been inspired by older pupils and she can now inspire others in turn. It’s been evident for some time that she is a genuinely prodigious talent, and this award bears it out.’

Dare’s winning entry can be watched on The Poetry Society’s you tube channel.
