Students smash target for hospice fundraiser

Gabi Field a Community Fund raiser at St. Catherine’s hospice said: “St Catherine’s Hospice is a local charity that provides specialised end of life care and support throughout Horsham, Crawley, Mid Sussex and East Surrey. Both Amie and Eloise have had personal experiences with the Hospice - their sponsored scoot having been done in memory of Eloise’s dad, and Amie’s granddad who were cared for by the hospice.”

She added: “At St Catherine’s hospice we need to raise £5.5million every year to provide our services to the local community. Amie and Eloise are a huge inspiration to other young people in our community by showing how they are getting involved in fundraising for their local hospice! We are very proud of the girls and would like to thank everyone for their generous donations.”

Overwhelmed by their success the girls are determined to make their fundraiser an annual event and are already considering a sponsored swim for next year. Through their charity events they hope to continue fund raising in memory of all those who have sadly passed away and will continue to raise awareness of the fantastic work that is done for patients and their families by the staff at St. Catherine’s Hospice.

Amie said: “We’re so happy for all the support we had for our sponsored scoot, we never expected to raise so much. It’s also brilliant to know that St. Catherine’s Hospice will benefit as it is a cause close to both our families. We’re already looking to the future and hope our event will be even bigger and better next year!”

Eloise concluded: “We would really like to thank everybody that sponsored us as we really do appreciate all their support and kindness. It was a good fun event to do and we feel happy that all the money raised has gone to a good cause.
