The gardens looked lovely and the weather was beautiful. Although we do not know exactly how many people attended there were certainly more than last year – car parking spaces were few and far between!

Our good friends from Let’s Dance Hassocks provided the entertainment with Country Dancing and Maypole Dancing – some of our guests had a go to!

Pimms was served alongside soft drinks to help wash down some delicious strawberries and cream! Not forgetting all of the choc ices and ice lollies. Also on the menu were some stunning cakes made by Collette who very generously made then for us at cost price – Collette runs Glitter Hut in Steyning and also donated a selection of cakes for the raffle.

Speaking of the raffle, we should also thank our friends at Swains Farm Shop, for a beautiful hamper, NISA local for several prizes including Chocolates, Wine and Beer. Amongst other prizes was a meal at The Old Tollgate. We also had a lot of prizes donated by families and friends of Valerie Manor including a beautiful rose bush

The raffle was run by Pat & Viv who are daughters of one of our residents who spent the event either taking money, writing names on the tickets or folding them – they really did an outstanding job.

After the dancing had finished the raffle was drawn and it was so nice to see such a wide spread of prizes – especially nice that one of our residents won the Rose bush – which will be planted very soon.

With all the donations towards refreshments and the sale of raffle tickets we raised £325 which is absolutely fantastic! Thank you all so much for your continued generosity.

The event was in aid of our friends at St Barnabas House in Worthing and will go towards Linda’s cycle challenge in September when she rides from Lands’ End to John O’Groats. In fact Linda brought her bike along which caused many conversations - ‘Look how thin the tyres are’ and ‘that saddle doesn’t look comfortable’!

If you haven’t sponsored Linda for this huge effort please visit our Just Giving Page (Valerie Manor).

Thank you everyone for making the day so special for our residents and families.
