Support charity while out shopping with John Lewis green tokens

Winston’s Wish, the Horsham-based childhood bereavement charity, is in line to receive a share of £3,000 – but it needs the support of kind-hearted John Lewis shoppers.

The charity is delighted to be one of three charities selected by staff at the Horsham store to take part in the popular Community Matters initiative.

Shoppers are given green tokens at the till which they use to cast a vote for their preferred charity from now until February 28, after which time the money is divided depending on the share of tokens.

Each year, Winston’s Wish supports more than 40,000 bereaved children and young people through an array of dedicated services.

These specialist support programmes include support following death as a result of accident, illness, homicide, suicide and military service. Approximately two children under 16 are bereaved of a parent every hour of every day in the UK – and that includes Christmas Day.

Winston’s Wish is entirely dependent on fundraising and donations in order to continue its work helping children to face the future with confidence and hope, despite what has happened.

Leigh-Beth Stroud, Community Fundraiser for Winston’s Wish in Sussex, said:“Please encourage your family and friends to support. Every vote really does count and will be converted into much-needed money for Winston’s Wish.”
