Sussex Police search and rescue exercise

So we all assembled as if it was a real search and rescue in East Sussex. Snow still on the ground from the dusting the night before we all set up and prepared to be dispatched to the search arears.

It wasn’t long before Sussex 4x4 Response were taking teams to areas to be searched, and moving equipment back and forth.

The water teams were pleased with the transport as they have heavy (and wet) gear to move about.

All were pleased not to have to walk there and back in the cold wind. Boots, hats, scarfs and gloves were essential, I wouldn’t mind betting the wind chill was well below zero.

Even with the conditions so cold the water specialists still went for a dip and the dog handlers all turned out in force, the same as they do every time a call for help goes out across the county. Let’s hope all those at home in the warm remember even in winter the volunteers still turn out to help.

ALSAR search dogs Sussex, Sussex Search and Rescue, Surrey Search and Rescue, Sussex Police as well as ourselvies. We all learnt a lot and will mean we can all be better together the next time we are called upon all volunteers too.
