Sustainable home show to launch in Horsham

The Kinder Living Show, idea of local interior designer Jeanette Mercer of Fresh Traditions, will have stands, talks and live demos to give homeowners information and inspiration to make their home a greener place.

What began as an idea for a stand to sell some up-cycled furniture, has grown into a show with more than 20 exhibitors, covering everything from Architecture to Window Renovation.

There will be information about new ways to heat and light your home, as well how to re-use stuff through traditional techniques like re-upholstery and joinery.

The businesses involved are mainly Sussex-based and the show aims to be a friendly environment for local people to ask questions and gather information from the people who actually do the work.

Not content with just talking about recycling, the show’s organisers were keen to put it into practice and support local charities on the day.

“There are things many of us put in the bin, or leave lying at the back of a drawer, that can be re-sed by charities or raise funds for them. Our Donation Station will be collecting used printer ink cartridges, old mobile phones, plastic milk bottle tops and Felix cat food.”

Profits from the show’s ‘Chari-Tea’ stand, selling hot & cold drinks and homemade cakes, will also go to Horsham Community Responders, volunteers who help save lives by supporting the ambulance service.

Entry costs £3, is free for under 16s, over 65s and Emergency Service Workers.

The talks and demos are all free of charge. They include advice on decluttering your home, up-cycling furniture, eco heating options explained, eco-friendly building practices and more.
