Thanks to election Labour supporters

I would also like to thank the local Labour team who did so much walking and talking.

I have to say, though, it was the most unusual election I have ever experienced in Littlehampton.

Usually candidates, including real independents, openly identify themselves with the political party and its policies they represent, as was mostly the case with this election.

The reasons being, I believe, are that they are proud to proclaim where they stand politically and to make that clear to the voting public.

This was not the case with one candidate in the seat I was contesting for Littlehampton Town, however. On the scraps of paper he delivered through mine and others’ doors, there was no logo and no obvious political party name.

Now I wouldn’t say this was in any way deceptive or deceitful, nor would I claim the candidate was ashamed of his party, or vice-versa, but what I will say is this. The public will always be able to determine my political affiliation and what I think is important locally. I can’t speak for the other candidates, but from their leaflets I had no trouble in determining where they were coming from.

Still, to many people’s surprise, we have a Lib-Dem county councillor. I wish him well.
