The demiseof an icon?

an Iconic building in our town,

it has suffered rust

and weathered storm,

until the management let it down.

Once a hub for art and fun

a place for all to use,

the Mayor’s ball

good shows for all,

the arts council now abuse.

When evening comes lights go out

doors are closed and locked,

no big band shows

no dancing throngs,

it’s potential lays un-frocked.

Strange art appears within its halls,

that are empty but for a few,

with puzzled eyes

sad moans and sighs,

they wander off to use the ‘loo’

Bring back those happy carefree days

with friends and family spent,

to sample delights

of fun filled nights,

then make their way home, content!
