I was really interested in the beautiful photograph in the WSCT, June 18, showing Morag Warrack’s stunning work highlighting the threat to Rookwood Golf Course.

The art work has made me really consider the potential loss of this precious natural green area and sports facility.

The threat of 1,100 homes being built in the area as part of the HDC Local Plan is worrying.

I saw a photo from Trafalgar Square where Extinction Rebellion used children’s shoes to highlight the urgent Climate Crisis facing the next generation.

Extinction Rebellion, and many other justice and environmental groups believe that it’s essential to ‘Build back Better’, focussing future funding on green initiatives, thus creating employment, a stronger economy, and promoting a healthy and sustainable future.

It’s clear that locals here are actively campaigning for a better future too – Biodiversity, the wildlife corridor at Rookwood and accessible green spaces in Horsham are important to us all.

It’s been a pleasure to see storks from Knepp flying over Rookwood and also see Warnham Nature Reserve thriving.

Building work at Rookwood would certainly undo all the valiant efforts of local people to combat the destruction of our area.

In Trafalgar Square, Extinction Rebellion have campaigned for a better future for our planet; a future that is not blighted by the chaos of climate change.

It’s sad to see that the government are not meeting any of their targets on environmental issues.

Let’s hope Horsham District Councillors can pave the way to a brighter future for us all.
