Time to tell us

It would appear that the newly-formed Coastal West Sussex Clinical Commissioning Group does not plan to have the ‘medical facility’ for our area on the existing hospital site in Littlehampton.

Apparently, negotiations are in progress for another site which cannot be disclosed, because it is ‘commercially sensitive’!

It does seem extraordinary when, as I understand it, the old hospital site already belongs to the property division of NHS England.

The site is centrally placed, easily accessible by public transport and part of the local plan (with 15 houses and a medical centre proposed).

As I see, from the rest of the area, reports that developers are circling, perhaps there are alternative plans.

If this is the case, is it not time, after eight years, that the people of Littlehampton are entitled to some honest information?

After employing expensive consultants to tell us what to do, there is uncertainty over the future of The Windmill, the swimming and sports centre and the very well-used Crown post office.

While appreciating change will take place, surely it must be for the better.

When are the powers-that-be going to take notice of the needs and wishes of this very special community?
