The Littlehampton Academy college (sixth form) has been growing over the past few years and is increasingly successful.

The college has been graded as ‘outstanding’ at A-level for the progress made by all students – placing the college in the top ten per cent of providers nationally.

A high proportion of the students also won places at university, with 15 students gaining high enough grades for places at prestigious Russell and 1994 group universities.

To back up these great results, the performance tables have just been published and they show that the A-level progress score (value added) of 3.0 puts TLA college second in West Sussex, joint ninth in the south east and joint 71st in the country.

This is an incredible achievement and testament to the combined efforts of everyone to push the students to aspire as highly as possible.

But this didn’t happen overnight.

It was the culmination of at least four years’ work as those students went through their GCSE courses before embarking on their A-level courses.

In the midst of all that is going on at the academy at the moment this is surely worth celebrating and is a tribute to the previous leadership team – the principal and the academy council – for working together to make this happen.

Congratulations to all concerned.
