Trent gets place on bench for Worthing Thunder Basketball

I am very proud of my grandson, Trent Williams, whose tenacity and dedication has culminated in Trent's delight at attaining a place on the bench at Worthing Thunder Basketball and joining the team for the Sheffield National Cup Final.

My daughter Marnie also deserves a mention: as a single mother she took full advantage for Trent of the Worthing Leisure Centre’s facilities from crèche, though trampolining to his active participation and all-consuming interest in his aim to pursue a future in the world of ‘Basketball’. Currently Marnie is the co-chair of Worthing Thunder Junior National Program for under 14s to 18s.

The National Cup Final had live screening on January 24, so we were able to watch the match on the internet.

On the run-up to this final Trent was proud to be invited to sit on the Thunder bench, gaining experience by observing & supporting the team.

But on Sunday, in the last minutes of the game, his tenacity was rewarded when he was brought on and proved to himself, when stepping up to the plate, he took his opportunity and scored a three point shot.

Despite the team losing, this was his moment of glory & no one can take it away from him.

Well done Trent!
