The panto, which will take place on January 31 and February 1, has the usual large cast with unexpected plot twists, audience participation, great songs and general mayhem.

As always it will take a weekend to build the stage from scratch and to paint the scenery.

Direceted by Lynn Andrews, ‘Cinderella’ features the usual downtrodden Baron (Ben Overton); his wife Lady Spendalot (Alison Shapley) together with ugly sisters Lavinia and Nesta, played by Dave Adams and David Bouskill.

Cinderella is played by Becca Attfield and her handsome Prince by Frances Douglas.

The panto promises entertainment for all the family with lots of laughs and plenty of well known songs.

There will be a bar selling wine and fruit juices, before the evening performances and at the interval. At the matinee wine and light refreshments will be available at the interval.

Trinity Church Players has been in existence for over 30 years and one of its main aims is to raise money for charity.

In the last 8 years they have donated nearly £17,000 to good causes.

Leader, Jane O’Sullivan said: “We have no auditions or membership fees. We welcome everyone, aged over 15, to join us and we all contribute what talents we can.

“We fund our performances from our 50p a week coffee money.

“Costumes are made from jumble sale finds and people generously donate props and their time to construct the scenery. We have varying skills, but we all pull together to put on a really good show for the local community. We try to keep our ticket prices low, whilst still raising large amounts of money for good causes. I’m proud to lead such a lovely group of people”.

TCP had to cancel their annual carol singing this year.

For 30 years they have been carol singing on the Monday before Christmas, usually in aid of CHASE. Because of the atrocious weather on the 23rd December, it was reluctantly cancelled. For this reason they are giving the proceeds of the panto raffles to CHASE.

The main panto proceeds will be split equally between Cancer Research UK and Holy Trinity Church funds.

After the panto, Trinity Church Players will have a short break before starting rehearsals for their summer concert ‘Songs of War and Peace’. Rehearsals are on Monday evenings from 8pm – 10pm and the performance will take place on Saturday 28th June at 7pm. It will be a joint concert with the choir of St Robert Southwell School.
