UK can prosper if it stays united

Steve Spice asks whether I would like Britain to join the Euro? I suspect he is asking me to shoot myself in the foot.

No one wants to join now but a common currency for all Europe would be very advantageous if a democratic Central Bank was set up.

It would help the Northern Ireland peace process and all travellers to, and from, Britain. It is not an issue in the referendum.

The issue is the future of Europe. We are a group of small and middle sized nations in a world dominated by giants: China, America, Russia, India and soon Brazil.

We can prosper and play our proper part in world affairs if , and only if, we remain united. Barack Obama urges us to vote Remain, he wants a strong Europe to be an anchor for a democratic western alliance. Donald Trump says vote Brexit, he wants a weak Europe he can push around. President Putin waits to see what we do.

Arguments about costs, or the number of immigrants, are like arranging the deck chairs on the Titanic when rebel helmsmen are altering course towards the icebergs. For all our sakes , vote remain.
