Value is realised

I AM so pleased that Arun District Council has, at long last, realised that the architectural value of the houses in South Terrace is not enhanced by the installation of uPVC windows and the addition of satellite dishes (Gazette story, May 3).

In fact, quite the reverse.

They also lessen their value.

I am also very sorry that householders have been misled by the firms who install those windows and dishes stating that planning permission is not required.

It is a very costly business to reinstate the correct wooden ones and there are other alternatives to dishes.

It would be very good for everyone if the council would consider extending the conservation area to include some of the other lovely streets in and around Littlehampton and to make householders who live in conservation areas aware of their planning obligations, before costly mistakes are inadvertently made.
